I know lots of folk have the SIP speedo fitted to the Wassell conversion, and the way most have done this is to connect the the brown wire from the speedo direct to the yellow wire from the stator to allow the tacho / rev counter to work.
As I understand it this is an unregulated supply and could damage the speedo, so has anybody found a way to tap into the yellow before it gets to the wassell and regulate this supply to avoid damaging the speedo.

Another question, how many people have connected the brown from the speedo onto the yellow from the stator (un-regulated) and have suffered speedo failure?
And how many have fitted and all is ok?
SIP dont recomend doing this, as they say the un-regulated supply could damage the speedo.

I have a feeling that as long as the wassell is connected while you have the brown connected to the stator side of the yellow that the current is regulated. I have been running my sip speedo like this for 18 months now and it hasn't blown up yet.
I wouldn't recommend connecting the yellow to the brown with out the wassell being connected at all, I haven't tried it but I would think it would fry it.
