I`ve brought a Dellorto carb for a £10,it`s stamped PHBH BD. Can anyone tell me what the BD stands for? the bloke i brought it from didn`t know or in fact if it was a 2-stroke. I`ve looked it up and it`s deffently for a 2-stroke.
It also has extras on it.On the fuel banjo side it has what looks like a fuel breather pipe coming out and pointing to 11o`clock.
On the other side(left) it as the same looking breather pipe coming out opposite the other one but this one is pointed at 4o`clock.
Also on the left hand side near the manifold opening there is what looks to be a brass breather pipe coming straight out.
Never used or had a PHBH carb before so not sure if these extras are normal.
Any help would be welcome please.
cheers ove.
Can i use a PHBH BD? carb? Pic now added.

BD.
I think the "B" is for a rubber sleeve type fitting.
"D" is Destra in Italian for right. Right hand mixture screw.
I cant see a problem with running it.
BS would be a rubber mounted carb with a left hand mixture screw.

If your sure its a 2 stroke then its good to go.
2 stroke carbs have a raised diffuser tube where the needle slides up and down.

It could be four stroke

You need to check the atomiser bush as RBG says. I've recently had this with a PHBH 28 FD which came off an NSR 125 but was fitted with the 4 stroke type bush and atomiser. I needed the to change this bush in order to use the usual AV & AS range of atomisers also.
Check out the the thread

And here is a reference to the part you may require

My NSR carb cost £12 but I then had to spend a bit more to adapt it. It's still worked out OK though. The only other thing is that the FD has a powerjet so will see how I can get on with that, it can always be blanked.
Be very careful if and when you have to drift out the atomiser bush!

Yes it`s a 2-stroke as it has the raised deffuser
RBG your explanation of BD is correct as the mixture screw is on the right hand side
CT in your thread you talk of oil fill tube, are these only on 4-strokes like the one you had?
Just need to know what the brass breather pipe and the 2 breather pipes (1 either sde) are?
cheers for your help so far.

The two breather pipes are for fuel over flow. You can attach small pipes/lines to them and safely route them to the ground or a reservoir. The brass one looks to be for a two stroke oil injection system, you'll need to blank that off or you'll have an air leak.
Good luck
I was referring to the two stroke oil feed.
Good news that you have the correct diffuser which wont need changing.

All question now answered, thanks for all your help.
Sounds exactly the same carb as one I've got - I'm guessing it's a 28mm
Blank off the brass breather as it is an oil injector and check what jets and atomiser you've got in itas they may be quite different to the ones that are typically used on Lambretta set ups.
Where's the best place to get a length of the reinforced hose as in your pic to use as a rubber mount ?
