Are UNI hubs ok? Or FA Italia? Which one is best?

In general both are OK, in fact MB Developments sell the Uni hub. Yes, my new chrome RAMP hub (bought 5 years ago) looks great, but from all the bad reports, I'm not going to risk putting onto a scooter. True SIL hubs are OK and they will be stamped with the SIL "S" logo inside the hub.

to be honest if i'd find those bl@@dy 9mm studs id give it a go... at least to make sure that the hubs are responsible for the tyres failure.. could also be that having the bike stayed on the centre stand for so many months the rims got ovalized... The look is really cool. My gp is glossy black and the chrome rims are spectacular especially now with the Sip tubeless with black rims.. but looks like i have no chance (SR and MB havent answered and i don't think they waste their time producing studs for a type of hubs that noone buys...) so...
SR has the original SIL, might go for those ... or maybe i keep the front hub like it is ( i havent tryed to see if the 10mm studs fit the front hub but so it seems reading around forums) and buy the chrome rear hub from beedspeed...hmmm...

Thanks

My idea is to mount the front wheel tomorrow on the existing front hub, and "walk" the scooter up and down to see if everything s ok with the new tyre.. if its ok then i'd keep the front hub and buy only the rear but chromed in order to match it with the front one.

just one question..: i have never changed the front hub on a lambretta before, to do that i have to replace all the bearing oil seals etc..or is it as easy as the rear hub?

MB just answered, he said he has never bumped into any 9mm studs.. he suggested to tap the hub but how?? I was told that you can't tap a ahole with a left treaded tap, theres no helicoil or similar in the whole planet for that type of job. :?

i emailed with MB and i have to say he made his point very clear about the quality of the RAMP hubs. Let's say that he couldnt be MORE clear. :D:D Unfortunately he doesnt sell Uni in chrome otherwise i would have bought it right away... they exist only silver black or white...i'd buy it black but then i'd have to repaint my front hub in the same colour... i'll have to think about it... thanks everybody for all the infos and opinions. Everytime post in here i learn something new.

you can tap left or right handed threads and 9 or 10mm left handed taps are available via ebay etc but its nearly the same price just to buy a new hub. Ramp rear hubs are known to break especially the centre boss , ive been using uni hubs on high power engines 30+ bhp for many years now with no problems.

Yeah he told me horror stories about Ramp hubs breaking or snapping while riding, people seriously injured, and the serious risk of dying. Like i said if i had a doubt before, after talking with him i had no doubts anymore.

About the left handed threads tap: is the first thing i thought, i have a helicoil kit myself (nr6) that i used to fix some of the chaincase screws holes. I have that type of chaincase with the screws on the chain cover side and the holes on the other side that are really easy to break. But today when i went to the shop where i usually go when i have this kind of problems the guy was clear: He said neither Helicoil or any other similar brand makes this type of threads. Now i'll search in internet just for my knowledge but i made up my mind and i already decided i won't keep the Ramp hub anyway.
