Angle grinder to get the old one off. Put kettle on.
Compress new one in a vice. Put a few zip ties round it. Pop it on. Snip zip ties. Make cup of tea.

Where sells the new springs? I have a 180 spring - what exactly does this mean, rider weight?

Chiggy Chambers http://www.lambrettaupgrades.co.uk/r1-springs-bushes 180lb spring solo riding - 220lb two up or for the fuller figure
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

Stick with the 180 and use the compression damping and pre-load adjuster to suit the load
