Blowing headlight.
Hello lads looking some help here i keep blowing my headlight im sure i have it wired up right, the only thing i'm not sure of is the brown wire i have coming back up to the headset from the horn, where doe's this go to ? any help or theories appreciated trying to get the scoot ready for thursday to to get to lincoln so time's not on my side here, thanks Hicksy.
check your regulator and speedo bulb.
if your on 6v try a 12v
if your on 6v try a 12v
Check that all the connections are secure and that there is good tension on the bulb contacts. If it was a regulator fault the rest of the bulbs would blow as well and even on a 6v system the speedo bulb is an insignificant load.
I had the same problem on my SX200.
I finally discovered the speedo bulb was not always earthing through the speedo.
I soldered a wire to the speedo bulb holder & earthed that to a point under the head set.
This stopped the headlight bulb blowing.
I do this mod on all my scoots now.
Hope this helps

its not the load of the speedo bulb thats important.firekdp wrote:Check that all the connections are secure and that there is good tension on the bulb contacts. If it was a regulator fault the rest of the bulbs would blow as well and even on a 6v system the speedo bulb is an insignificant load.
apperantly it balances the load.
got this from stickys book and deffo works for me.
funny stuff this electrickery.
Yes, I've read that in Sticky's but that has just been carried across from the Home Workshop Manual where I think someone "guessed" as to why Innocenti fitted a 12v lamp on a 6v system. A simple bulb isn't going to provide any regulation at all.Jazzy wrote:its not the load of the speedo bulb thats important.
