Darrell Taylor wrote:the boyessen reeds fitted have probably failed due to entering the bore and clipping the edge of the piston if fitted without a few gaskets to raise the reed out a bit ,the problem exists as the fixing plates without petal stops allow the petal to lift too far i would fit stops back on for long term reliability

the moto tassinari reeds fail quickly if you have the wrong block/reed supplied ,the correct ones last just as long as an original
Good info. Not spacer/piston related, but I blew 2 sets of V force 3 on a TS1, these had no stops. Fitted V force 4.....same block but with stops, no issues now for many miles.

more info from long term testing and development on road and dyno

vf3 petals were changed mid product life for a set that worked well on a banshee but failed in a lambretta so most sold in last 3-4 yrs have these ,earlier vf3 petals are still going strong 4-5 yrs on
the recent/current std ts1 reed block has the same problem with the reed petal plate that allows petal to enter bore and cuts a half moon out of the top reed petal
the vf4 has issues too if not identified !!! fortunately the ones i sell are sorted ;)
