Ive just set the timing on my gp . I found tdc with a positive stop and made a mark for this on flywheel housing. I then put made a mark at required firing point using timing disc and then adjusted stator so pick up lines and lines on flywheel line up when flywheel is set on firing point. I no the timing marks on sil bosses are un reliable and i am going to strobe check it tomoz. Ive high lighted the arrow and firing point mark with tipex and want to no if these markes are out of line when strobed due to the sil boss lines being in wrong place which way do i adjust stator depending on which way it runs out. Sorry if this is difficult to understand.

If you know your TDC (measure twice, mark once), and you've marked where the firing point should be anti-clockwise of TDC, then that's all there is to it. The lining up of the two white lines on the pick up with the two indents on the flywheel is purely for static timing. As you are going to strobe it (the only correct way IMO), when you activate the strobe gun (with the engine running higher revs than tickover) the arrow on the flywheel will appear static and should line up opposite to the timing mark you made on the mag housing. If it's to the left or right, then you will have to loosen your stator plate and move in the corresponding direction to adjust your timing to the correct position and strobe again to check. You will find as you rev the engine that the firing point will move fractionally (unless you have an Augusto or M Tech box fitted).
Hope this is clear.
