My Nk used to do exactly the same. I made a strap for the back muffler and haven’t had any problem with it since (apart from it being a revy pipe).
Must admit that’s the worse seizure I’ve ever seen. And ill join the club of if you want to sell it let me know!

Don't worry its not bad luck just bad design.(exhaust port) the original drawings set the bridges at 4mm min wide, but they were cast much thinner. This is a trade secret which i think we should all know about. Why do you think the RB20 is a real good kit(no bridges)

Any rough idea of costs involved for rebore, replate, relined or for water cooling.
Best places to get either of the above done?

possibly think about getting the exhaust port welded up to create a single one ala TS1, sourcing a decent piston alternative, then getting it replated here in the UK? Should be well on the way toa reliable kit then

Now the TS1 barrels are around again I'd be inclined to cut your losses and get one of them if you want to stick with a reed kit.

Weld up auxilary ports and reshape exhaust port(widen) then drop steel liner in, which if you like can be taken out to 250 dimensions, will run cooler and should any further problems occur a rebore/hone is possible rather than re-coat of nicasil if the bore is damaged.
