Recently purchased a new stainless SSC performance pipe, are they a copy of a known pipe ? (not the Taff one)
I've got an early Jet 200 with iron stage 4 pist port with 200 gearing, a gp crank (I think) & the piston has been coated with a ceramic crown & teflon skirt. Also running a standard clutch, but that can be changed if really necessary. I have a new phbh 28 with a Marchald filter & i've fitted it with parts loosely based on similar setups (that I checked out in the carb section of this forum) incl - av266, x7, 55 pilot, 122 main, 270 float, 40 slide. Also seen a few with av264 & X13, but need input to help my decision. Scoot will be running panels without holes & a street racer type seat (poor air flow, bad idea ?) I was really after a touring setup, so should have bought the Taff pipe, but hadn't done my homework first before diving in

Just want a good clean all round tune. So, am I on the right track ? Don't really want to stick holes in my SX panels, but will do if the carb needs to breath better. Appreciate any help/ ideas from the learned scooter boffs 8-)

Cheers Revitz

I've posted some pics of my pipe. I can't seem to find any tuning info for it anywhere on the net, I've tried the search on this forum also, but only comes up with info on the Taffy pipes. I can only assume they're not very popular choice ? Got an AF clubman & an old 30 mil Delly as well, so unless someone can help us out with tuning info/links for the SSC pipe, I will just have to go for the low power alternative, as there's plenty of info out there for jettin etc. Having not been involved with tuning two smokes for 30 odd years, except for a couple mx bikes, I'm a bit in the dark so to speak.

Cheers, Revitz

PM copy as is scootrs, good pipe for the money (ive one in the shed) revvy runs out of steam compared to say a franspeed race type exhaust but for the money great value, you want more you pay more ;-)

Price isn't an issue Andy, fact is, i've got this pipe now & just need to make the best of it. I have a phbh28 & a 30, what I need to know is which carb would be best suited to the pipe & my setup (info in my OP), plus a good starting point for jetting. I would prefer to use the 28 as it's new, but if the 30 is better suited, I'll use that instead.

Either carb will be fine tbh, check the carb set ups with pm or scootrs in fact my old stage 4 might be in there with scootrs, your jetting doesnt look far away tbh but it will need dailing in either by dyno or test pilot and plenty of plug chops, with the filter on maybe the 122 might be lean ?

Don't know if this will help you or not, should get you somewhere near though if you decide to go for the Delly 30 (wouldn't think its a million miles off for the 28 either), off the old AF site.

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

Thanks Andy, at least i'm fairly close, that's saved me some headache & good to know what pipes to look for in the carb setups section now too. Nice one

And thanks for the AF info too DaveTomo. Would the atomiser & needle need to be leaner with the smaller 28 do you think ? like the av264 X13 combo, or should I suck it n see with the above 30 mil settings ? Similar-ish setups seem to have one or other combo. Bearing in mind I'll be running panels with fairly restricted air flow & don't really want to run without a filter, would punching out the panel & fitting a Rich Presley bell mouth make a huge or a nominal difference, would you say ?

Thanks again, Revitz
