I am planning to paint my engine casings, using the correct engine/heat paint. I can either get it in spray or a tin and paint it on. If I get the paintbrush stuff how easy is it to get a good finish, or something that reassembles a good finish.

'll let you know, I just bought a can of brush on satin black engine enamel as the coating I spayed on 3 years ago was chipping off on a number of places. Hopefully I'll get a chance to give it a go this weekend. The spray finish was very good when I first applied it, powder coat would be the best way but quite expensive and difficult to get off if you change your mind in the future. It would also require completely stripped cases.GLscoot wrote:I am planning to paint my engine casings, using the correct engine/heat paint. I can either get it in spray or a tin and paint it on. I think i will paint them, start with the brush stuff and if looks shiit I will use the spray stuff for the final coat. Got a set of knackered casings I can experiment on first. I take it Nitromorse will be able to remove the heat paint.
Just dropped casings & mag flange off for powder incl blasting, £70 all in. Thought that was quite reasonable.
