What is the best way to check a brand new exhaust for leaks (untidy welding) BEFORE fitting and test riding it? Does simply filling it with water work (without causing any damage)? The exhaust in mind would be a Vespa box-type.
Cheers, Chris

Why would you want to check a brand new one ? if it looks dodgy send it back .I would try and use compressed air rather than water if i were to test it but the easiest way is just fit it and see

Bung it, pump up with a foot pump, about 5-10psi will do, spray welds with soapy water.

Because if you're forking out a fair few bucks to have it coated with something flash, it's f'king annoying to find three holes in the downpipe that need welding up.Bifter wrote:Why would you want to check a brand new one ?

I'd certainly check it's suitability and fit before I coat it in some flash finish, been there before
