My LIS sometimes jumps out of 2nd gear under load ie accelerating, which is abit embarrassing when racing away from the lights! It doesn't do it changing down gear. Is it just badly adjusted cables (I've tried adjusting) or something deeper in the box?

Following a full resto. one of mine used to do that. After two gearbox strips that found nothing amiss, i decided to leave it and run the bike for the full running-in period.
During that time the fault disappeared :D I wondered if it was possibly the sharp edges of the new sliding dog i had fitted that had caused it :?: I'll never know :!:
The only other advice i can offer is to fit a new spring and balls  into the layshaft.

On closer inspection today, the gear teeth are all in good order, there is some slight wear on the sliding dog, where's the best place to get a new sliding dog? I'll also replace the guide pins whilst I'm at it. Is it worth replacing the selector spring with an uprated one?

have a good look at inner drive faces of your gear but more likely its the sliding dog as its softer any good dealer for a new one scoot restos have gen sil ones (avoid ebay !!) remeber if you fit an uprated selector spring it will make gear changes much stiffer dosent suit everyones riding style.......you did check cable adjust/routing before you stripped the box didnt you !!? lol
