Im building a very similar engine, what crankshaft did you use. Ive bought the worb5 flowed crank, phbh 28mm carb and probably the sip clutch when i can afford it. What exhaust are you using.davemartin wrote:My pollini 177 on my LML reedvalve engine got very hot mid throttle. 26/26 carb, 122 main jet, absolutely fine at WOT around the 280 mark, plug a nice colour etc. but went over 300 at about half throttle. Changed the air corrector from a 160 to a 140 and all is good. No more 'I need to thrash it a bit to cool it down'

Its running a 24ml standard carb with DRT insert and still has autolube.
Recent top end strip and rebuild found now problems at all . Due to supplier issue I had been sent wrong rings so top end had to be stripped again locally.
During this time no issues were raised or any thing found at all and no signs that there was an issue. Jetting Timing also checked.
all that's changed are new ring, its a polini 208 with GS piston and fats flow tap with new carb gasket whilst carb was stripped and cleaned again.
Following sensible advice SIP Digital speedo fitted so I could monitor engine temp which is why ive been closely monitoring it as ive added the miles.
As per the tech stuff that Gadge speaks off TBH id be lost trying to answer however its an Alan Terry build so im confident when I drove it away from the workshop it was spot on.
Ill put another 100 miles on over next 2 days and follow previous advice keeping speed well down around 40 mph ???
Any further advice more than welcome
Phil

Answer to GL
Polini 208
GS piston
MMW head ( I think)
JL RH
Diablo Moto clutch
p2 carb with drt insert
60ml long stroke pinasco crank
Polini up gear kit
SIP bearings throughout
Then all the other secret magic that Alan Terry does on the build ???? It was nearly 20 BHP but built for max torque which is 19llbs .

Ok gadge! Always easier for peeps to have the big picture of spec! Soundz a good road going tune and figures, i'd seriously have it on 3% if ye are'nt already, maybe ye were going to fast to early on ye rings hence ye concern about temp, bare in mind ye barrel is cast so it will run hot, speak to alan and empty his head, knowledge is power gadge!!!
