Cold weather effect on performance??????

Been doing the usual daily runs on a Px 210 to work and back fast A roads in the main before hitting inner city traffic.

Living out in the sticks it tends to be bit colder early mornings , been down to 1 degree so far.

So my normally steady plodding 210 appears to have a new lease of life ?? Crisp acceleration through he gears and 4MPH GPS onto the top speed.

Now sitting at a steady GPS of 67 MPH on the long A roads all day long.

However on the way back when the day has warmed up it feels more sluggish and slower??.

Pre mix is spot on as is tyre pressure. Plug light chocolate brown.

Its been on a dyno last summer when it was really warm so could it be possible its been safe jetted for the warm summer we have had??

Its been very reliable and steady and not particularly fast for a 210 but the difference is noticeable.

Interested in any explanation

Yes it will improve the performance.

I posted a similar topic not long ago and all my cables have stretched to the point they need changing, although its been a lot colder where i stay. Im more than positive the cold weather affects the running of the scooter, I think I got laughed at for suggesting this. I use my scooter all year round and leave for work at 6:00am where it has been well below zero more than a few times.
This obviously is not in the same context as what you are suggesting, 4mph is quite a lot. I would imagine some of the more intelligent members on here will be able to give you a good reason for this.

As mentioned, it has been documented before and is I think related to colder air being more dense and containing more oxygen which has the effect of weakening the mixture. It's not unheard of for people to hole their pistons when the temperature drops so a plug chop or 2 would be a good idea just in case ;)

So if I vent my panels for the none winter months this will allow more air and help cooling? Thus give me the similar effect to cold air??

I run an open mouth Delorto 28 ml and SIP road race .

It is actually normally a quite slow and disappointing 210 that has only ever reached 70GPS tops and normally sits between 60 and 63 GPS.

Just do a plug chop at the end of the long A road blast, clutch in and kill the engine then coast to a stop. Plug out and check the colour. Chocky brown would be good, and anything less might possibly need an upjet.

warm air is thinner - cold air is denser, so if your scooter was dyno'd in the summer you need to jet up(main jet) in winter to compensate for the leaning out the cold air will bring on. your dyno man should have mentioned to jet up(main jet) in winter, some kind of venting/ram airs always gunna be good for an air cooled engine, you may need to go up 2/3 main jet sizes to compensate for winter. don't knock your scoot gadge there not bad real world gps figures, don't listen to Mine Does The Clock Crack...
