I've stripped the carb and cleaned jets (loads) as it was only running on choke. Ran fine yesterday, are you saying its the float bowl Ric? Might ditch the thing and replace with a jetex?, pity really as its the only Italian thing on it 'cept the crank and bearings!

the float needle cant be closing but that said ive had carbs that just seem to over flow then taken off checked and refitted and then been fine without doing anything to them ,the only other thing is if the float itself is filling with petrol

Strange but true. I had my standard carb off over the weekend to change the pilot screw and the fuel was coming up the atomiser and pouring out. Been fine before and fine since. Work that one out. Certainly don't dump it though.

Float needle stuck or crap in the float jet..... strip, clean and I'm sure it will be sorted.... you can test by holding the carb level horizontally and blowing through the fuel inlet pipe with the fuel bowl off (float will be hanging down), as you blow push the float up and it should shut off meaning you can't blow through anymore...

Gave carb light tap with a 10mil spanner, leak stopped. Starts on choke 2nd kick and with choke in runs ok.....Except... when idling the revs start creeping up til there on about half throttle :| not easy running these things on a budjet is it, anyone got a p2?
