I'm just in the process of fitting my Cyclone 5 speed and I'm trying to decide on final drive ratio. At the moment looks like my choice is either 4.97 with the bits I've got, or 4.71 with a 19T front sprocket.
Obviously the 4.71 will give me more relaxed cruising and I'm thinking that the 5 speed will enable me to pull the 4.71 without too much of a problem.

It's a series 3 with Rapido 225 classic (stage 4 port timings, matched casing), 30mm carb and JL3 (was running standard Indian GP 5.22).
Most riding is done 1up with not many hills around here.

I'm even thinking (maybe) of fitting one of the new MBgm Clubmans at some stage.

Opinions?

If u have the std cyclone box then I'm sure u will already know to get 4.7 u will need a 46 crown wheel. 4.7 is a big jump from your 5.22 gearing but you will only know when you try it, putting in the cyclone will help your engine but if it's not powerful enough then it won't work. But it won't do any harm to give it a go and it's all part of the learning process, enjoy and have fun.

How did it go with the 5.22 final drive ratio, did it rev out in forth? The jump between 3rd and 4th on the standard indian box is quite close(19%) so the jump on the cyclone 4th to 5th wont be that much closer.

The jump between 4 to 5 on the cyclone is just 16% so closer than indian gp200 box.

Thanks for your thoughts, it does rev out nice and easily with the 5.22 and I had already decided to go with 46 crownwheel, but then thought about the 19t sprocket while I had the engine out.
Ah, decisions, decisions!

Ok if it revs out in 4th on the 5.22 ratio then you can go longer, my rapido 225 runs 4.95 and has a nk rally pipe it continues to pull on to 7500 rpm in forth no probs so I'm gonna go a bit longer to try and get the same road speed with engine not revving so hard. I'm thinking 4.8 but don't think I can go much longer then I am 18 stone :( :( :(

cheers Jeff
