Hi Coaster
I've used one
I built my Muggy 186 using a SIL GP150 donor and I thought I'd try the Vijay Mk2 gearbox to see how bad it was after all the reports I'd read!
It was as bad as all the reports I'd read
My Mugello has a 28mm PHBH, Ram Air and a JL3. I've never had a scoot with an expansion before and was quite shocked how little torque it had even with what I was led to believe was one of the more torquey pipes!
This baby wouldn't pull the 4.8 final ratio as soon as it came to the slightest gradient or headwind. I replaced it with a standard Indian GP200 gearbox and sprockets which gives a final drive of 5.2. This gives a far better ride and allows you to get into the power band.
As far as the Vijay's gap between 3rd & 4th it seemed far worse than my slightly tweaked SX150 box which also has a gap there.
Out of interest, I really notice the jump between 2nd & 3rd on the late Indian GP200 box but it's much better on the whole
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Nigel
