I've seen some brass fork link bushes advertised, anyone using them? I wondered if they actually fitted without major alteration. I always understood that brass is not good for this sort of application, phosphor bronze being the norm? I can see them shattering when being pushed in with a vice as brass is usually pretty brittle. Every time I put new plastic bushes in they always seem to tighten up too much and need fettling, that's why I'm asking really.
Thanks.

Used on the TV2 I believe, but with oil ways and used with drilled bolts with a grease nipple on the outside. Plastic bushes should be pressed into the links and then reamed for the metal bush to give a nice slide fit

Turn On, Tune In, Cop out!
most s1/2s have them need a press to get them in

Thanks for the replies. The ones I've seen advertised are just a direct replacement for the later plastic bushes, with no oilways and not to be specifically used with earlier type grease nipples etc. That's why I was sceptical about them.

I had a batch made over 20 years ago and have always used .them in my group 4 race scooter. They are a press fit into the links..... Copper grease thin film onto stainless fork pivot bolts.... Stripped and relubricated each winter.
I.m sure they help keep the front end all nicely in line
