Is there such a thing as a Snett seat which fits properly with an air scoop or maybe there are different air scoop gaskets?
Cheers

Soosh,

How are you doing?

The fit of the Snetterton has always troubled me. I always thought that if you cut away the gasket it would fit OK, but having tried it many years ago, I discovered that there really wasn't anything left to keep the gasket in place. I suppose your issue is with aesthetics, as the engine would breath just as well without the scoop.

I guess when you think back to the invention of the seat, it was probably fitted to a race bike without a scoop in place. Joe Public saw it and wanted one and the seat was fitted regardless of how well it made the scoop fit (or not fit). I can't think of a way of overcoming the problem, unless you can file-away the ali on the scoop between the gasket and the scoop to match the shape of the seat, to the thickness of the steel base of the seat.

Bummer, innit?

Hi mate,im doing good thanks, hope you are.The seat ive ended up with has some spacers underneath welded to the frame so it sits even further away from the frame.Cant see the logic in it.

I have an AF s type replica made by Neil Wicks to the exact spec including snett and custom scoop.
I've changed the seat back to a DL standard one but kept the snett JIC I want to put it back at any time.

The scoop has had about 2mm cut from the bottom allowing it to sit flush with the seat, looked perfectly normal when I had it that way.

A series 1 scoop sits flush with the front of a snet and looks like it was meant to be there ;)

Cheers but i just need it to sit closer to the frame rather than have a 10mm gap.I think this make of seat is the issue.I could make up the gap if it wasnt for the spacers. May have to dremmel them off.
