Hi ,could anyone advise me of the best set up for a Vespa. Basically i have a 2003 Vespa PXE 125, this has a Polini 177 kit with a mazuchelli crank/ Pe200 carb 24/24. The advice i have is fully advance the timing of which i have. This set up does not run well at all,it has a power dip on each gear change and has also suffered from heat seizures.ive recently fit a SIP fast flow tap to see if that helped but sadly it aint. I guess im asking which Carb is best for this set up ,Scooter has been ported as per the Polini booklet to no avail either. Thanks in advance anyone who can help Vespabouy

I"d be retarding the timing right back past the IT mark meself like. no the wonder you've nipped up. polini kits are tight from new, best get it honed out, clean piston up and new piston rings. what jets you running?

Ive tried a 108 and a 110, 110 is better. The Polini booklet gave the timing setting and I had that tested which was accurate, also PSN at Batley advised the same. Easy enough to adjust I bought a new piston and cleaned the barrel up, thanks for all advice.

your 24 mm will be fine. something like 140/Be3/122or125 main and 55/160 pilot jet, and a drilled air filter. and retard that timing , if its advanced past the A mark it"ll be running 27 degrees or more...itll gan bang. and don't use fully synth oil for running in, just use cheap s**t at 3%.
