Most 'race' pipes initially give this huge grin factor but often you find that after a week or 2 of having to run at higher revs, where the pipe comes onto the power, that it gets a bit boring. Constantly chasing the power up and down through the gears to stay in the power isn't exactly good for relaxed touring but can be improved by changing to a lower 4th ratio so that the bike is in the power more often and needs fewer down-changes.
That said, race pipes do suit the high revving tunes that have become more popular since dynos became readily available, which lower revving pipes often strangling higher spec tunes.
Horses for courses.

Got mine on Thursday (great service from Andy) pipe fitted straight away no hassle. Took it out yesterday and initial impression is what a great pipe. I loved my Rev-tour but this seems to give me a touch more.
doesn't like speed humps or kerbs though

What's the difference in mph in 3rd and 4th between the two pipes? I'm running a battered taffspeed copy on TT3 loads of torque no ground clearance and plenty of noise but would like to get the mph up. It's between the supertourer or the race.
The race is sounding like the people's choice?
