On the 0 setting there is only about 1 degree of difference over the rev range, on the F setting it's about 4/5 degree, both start at 22/23 degrees even though the static is 25 degrees.
Very similar results on my tests:

Fit brand new genuine Ducati CDI: no change
Fit new HT lead and cap: no change
Fit non resistive spark plug (B8ES): possible slight improvement (to be rechecked) but still nowhere near the 10/12 degrees full retardation expected on "F" setting.

Next thing to try is flywheel & stator if I can borrow them.

Dont know if you have seen this
http://www.lambrettaspares.com/info/fit ... s+184.html
He has a chart showing each setting and how far it will advance at the notional 8000rpm
I fitted mine today and set it at the 25 degrees static, yes by the time the engine is running its already moved 2 degrees.
I went for setting 9 that according to MBs chart should advance to 15 degrees. My reading of that is that it will advance 10 degrees from whatever my starting point was.
Im looking for a starting point that will give me a flat out ignition timing of 15 degrees 17, 18 at above average, duel carriageway 60mph speed. Hard to rev it to 8000 rpm on a new build but im getting around 1/2 inch of travel. Not tried the F setting yet but thats supposed to be the max of 13.9 advance if Im reading MBs chart correctly

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? It was suggested elsewhere on here that "Cheap" timing lights can give false readings!

Not got around to looking at it to be honest

I use a cheap draper timing light for all scooters as my snap-on one won't work with them, I've set up 3 other M-techs and a few Augustos with the same timing light with no problems, so I don't think that's the problem but as with anything to do with scooters you can never be sure.

Can't help think Martin at Chiselspeed should be the one trying these out. He's obviously got various types of parts and equipment and it would be helpful if he found what parts/makes don't work with the M-Tech.
