Exactly, so 5th needs to be where the headset markings line up for 4th. If you try to set the cables so that 5th is past 4th then the clutch cable resists that amount of movement.gp200ts1 wrote:Surely the handlebar gear change will only turn the same amount with a 4 speed or 5 speed as the physical space that the gears fit into in the engine is no different?

I think they will need the old clusters back because they can be upgraded to the new pressed on gears, but Dean has been trying to get the replacement ones out as the first priority to customers.immylam wrote:just back from holiday and have my replacement ., as some have said there is a gap and some cogs look thinner. Thing is what am I meant to do with the original? bin it, send it back or use it as a paperweight?
The 3rd and 4th teeth are thinner than before, but the material they are made from is a higher grade. Try it and see - the upgraded one I tried worked no different to the first version.

Could someone please tell me the correct position to set the gear selector arm at the crankcase to the corresponding position or gear selected on the layshaft? It could be my lack of understanding the obvious (even when it's in black & white) but the instructions don't seem clear on fitting a Cyclone to a new build, but only as a retrofit?
Many thanks in advance...

Would have thought it likely that the line up should be the same as with a 4 speed box. There should be a gap between the shock mount of about 5mm in 5th position and in line with the stud hole in 2nd.
2nd to 5th should be between neutral and the old 4th position with smaller gaps between but the end points are the same.

I've been very patient having ordered my cyclone in November and having it arrive in January, unfortunately I still haven't received my replacement cluster and I'm yet to run the gearbox, beginning to feel a bit disappointed, I've waited a long time and I'm thinking now that perhaps I should have just stuck with the standard 4 speed original.
Hopefully cluster will arrive soon and ill be blown away by how good it is.
I have been in contact with Dean and it seems there was a mix up with my address which has been sorted but now the replacements have all come and gone so I'm having to wait for some more to arrive which was hopefully yesterday (Wednesday 24th July) I'm hoping to hear back from RLC shortly.
Any body have any news, anybody else still waiting for theirs.?

I think the poor lad is just frustrated, it sounds like Rimini are doing their best to sort their Cyclone problems but that won't stop people wanting to talk about it. No harm imho, it only serves to publicise the effort they are putting in.soulsurfer wrote:....and so the problem is now what exactly?Willie the pimp wrote:I've been very patient having ordered my cyclone in November and having it arrive in January, unfortunately I still haven't received my replacement cluster and I'm yet to run the gearbox, beginning to feel a bit disappointed, I've waited a long time and I'm thinking now that perhaps I should have just stuck with the standard 4 speed original.

I see where you're coming from Col, but there seems to be a lot of people coming on here moaning about this issue when, quite obviously, Dean is on the case, I can see what's going on and it doesn't even affect me, in this case Dean has sorted the issue with the customer, I just don't see the point of coming on here moaning about it.
