Hi all, I am running a SIL stage 4 200, with a delly phbh 30 mm. It's unfiltered and rubber mounted. The problem I have, is 'machine gunning' just off idle , which clears at 1/8 throttle. Due to running in, I seem to end up cruising at this opening which is unpleasant. I originally ran an ssc taffy replica, and now am trying the original Indian big bore. Box pipe has improved it a lot, and over 1/8 is bloody amazing. Carb set up is: av266, x7, 2nd clip, 40 slide, 50 pilot, 300 float valve. Have tried 45,and 40 pilots, 250 float valve, and 45 slide with no change. Ignition is at 19degrees. Any ideas. Thanks

don't know if this may help (see below) sounds like you're running rich - check your mixture screw as well. I'd also consider dropping your timing back a little (nothing to do with your problem, just an observation)

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

Many thanks for replies, main jet is a 110, so will go up to 120, did think I was too small, but as running in wasn't to bothered. Ordered ancillotti so will try again and let you know. One observation, the ' cackling' is happening just off idle, and thinking on it, the scoot always did it, even with 22 jetex. Wondered if it's just the fact that there's hardly any throttle and the problems me and not the LAmmy!!!! Hhmmmm.

Update time. As I've tried the normal lean off the Idle circuit thing, looked further, seems the needle diameter is relevant from off idle as well, as all the normal needles are the same diameter, I tried a weaker atomiser, from av266 down to a 264. Initially no different, but with a 40 pilot, yee gods, 4 stroking gone clean pick up and cruising on the just open throttle position. But other issues now. Takes an age to return to idle. If I goe back up on pilot or atomiser , 4 strokes. Plus checking plug after idling for a while its wet. So it's over rich and over lean at same time. Oh good! Wondering if the weak slow return to idle is the needle , x13 is usually seen working with av264's, so on we go, 2 months and 80 quid later I'm a bit closer.

Sounds as though your systematic testing might just get you there in the end :)

Good luck.

If it takes ages to come back down on idle then its weak and you need to get back up on the idle mate.

I know you said it 4 strokes if you go back up on the idle but im assuming thats because you're putting the 50 back in? If so you need to probably go to a 45 and see if that helps
Donnie.

Tried 45, but can't remember what else I tried it with, ho ho, so will be retrying it, onwards and upwards. Thanks for reply.

Hi all, ancillotti finally on , x13 needle in. At just below 1/8 throttle opening, I get a bit of a 4 stroke. Cackle, but the rest of the throttle positions the bloody thing flies. Clean and crisp. Retried different settings, to make sure, every combo either brings back 4 stroking up to 1/8 throttle , or effects the range 1/8 and above. If I go weaker on pilot it takes an age to return to idle. Will be running it as is for a bit, as have run out of options and its 99% there. Spec one is: Indian 200 stage 4, ancillotti , delly30 phpb 250 float valve, float at 25 mm, 40 pilot, 40 slide, av264/ x13 2nd clip. 120 main. 70 choke jet, open bell mouth. Kinda proves that every ones different, kept telling myself 40 pilot is too weak, every body seems to run 50-55s. But obviously no rules here, hope this helps any one with similar probs.
