Hub studs

I seem to be in a competition with F1 for rear punctures lol, another one sat upon entering cleegy takes my total to 4 in 4 years , anyway upon removing the rim a couple of nylocs seemed very soft when re tightening so didnt push to hard, just removed it to check the studs out and all 4 seem thin and a bit chewed up tbh, here's the dilema chaps, the studs are the press in type (fa itaila) and really need replacing, whos done this and did you press them out ? How much tonnage is needed (im thinking not a lot) the hub is in good nick still and been fine 3k miles on it.
And by the way 4 punctures, different rims, tubes and tyres, just bloody unlucky i guess

I think it would be preferable to just replace the hub with genuine SIL one from Scooter Restorations, and put in decent threaded studs..( Mr.Broadhurst sells the high tensile threaded studs)

It would be a shame tbh as the hub its self is good.

I know the dilemna Andy ! .. but unless someone does high tensile replacement push in studs ?? .. That reminds me i must save up to replace the "Ramp" hub on me G.P. !!

I did this a few years back on an FAI hub. Pretty certain they press out. Replaced them with MB press in studs. As you say, other than the poor quality studs the hubs are, on the face of it, as reasonable quality as most of the others around.

Ordered a new one, will have a play with the old one and see how we get on, if it fails it fails, if it works I have a decent spare.

I dunno why the FA casting, boss and liner would differ in quality to the current production: flakey lining, pouroous cast, cheese screw in studs. But if you gents have quality FA hubs: then MB press-in replacement studs r4u. If buying Indian, I insist on 'UNI' brand.

Actually I can't argue against that. I have run Uni ones for a few years now and they do feel better quality than FAi ones. I do worry a bit though that the very thin coating that UNI put on them may be hiding a multitude of sins

Just for everyone's information, yes is the answer, they do press out and very easy as well, no big press needed at all, A piece of small tube on the head side and simple press out using a small vice and hey presto they came out really easy, it will come in for a good spare now my new ones arrived
