What would happen if....
...I swapped a standard 125 cylinder head for a 185 head. I've stripped the thread of the 185 and found a 125 head in the shed. Was wondering how it would affect the squish/compression etc. Not too mechanically minded about this sort of thing. Cheers.

The diameter of the 125 head is 54mm and the 186 will be around 64 mm. So likely you'll have 5mm of gasket face either side from the head exposed to the piston crown. Depending on the piston height there is a potential that the piston would hit the head.
The combustion chamber will be smaller and the squish won't be right either.
On the whole I don't think it's a great idea.

yep, bad idea.
You might have guessed that I was trying to be a tight arse and was hoping to get away with spending some money. Have now ordered a new 185 head. Thanks for the advice chaps.
