Hi all, I've just picked up a GP project and I'm going to prep and spray it myself. I used to do a bit of spraying so I'm confident I can do a nice job if I take my time. I've got a compressor more than capable for the job but I'm in need of a good spray gun. I know these can cost upwards of £180 for a professional one but I don't really want to pay that sort of money if I can help it. So can anyone recommend one thats of good quality but not uber expensive? Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Pete.

A gun good enough for doing scooter work shouldn't cost that much as you don't need a very wide spray pattern and the cup doesn't need to be too big either. All the surfaces are small therefore as long as you thin the paint properly so that it flows out you should get a good enough job from a budget gun. I used an Ealex HVLP system to do my Jet and was amazed at the results, very little orange peel.

Devilbiss SL Gravity gun can be got from flea bay just over 57 quid.
check out spec can run from small compressor, not used mine yet but has been recomended to me by friend who uses one to paint all manner of paints, pearls and solid.
True a cheap (less than 30 quid) gun can get the paint on if you know what your doing, but if you have to flat and polish orange peal out you may need a polisher and all the compounds etc.
A good finish can only be got with A good gun or B with flatting and polishing.

Cheers Fellas, I've got a mop polisher and compounds so I should be ok. My other scoot cost £800 to paint so I'm going to be saving either way, so I think I'll go with a gun between £80-100.
