it wont make that much difference 4.45 to 4.54 final drive ratio , depending on the power /torque to revs your engine is producing and how you use the scooter id say you have the wrong gearbox, ideally you want italian li150 and look at 4.9 to 4.7 final ratio again depending on how you ride .

thanks for your reply fairspare when i built the engine the choice was

tv200 with 15/46 for top speed tv200 15/47 for normal use

li150 ( not spanish ) 18/47 for top speed 17/46 for normal use

as ive said i chose the tv200 with 15/47 do you think maybee i went the wrong way

the engine makes 30+ hp and 20 ft/ld of torque i tend to ride with others (ts1 and rbs)

and my bike wants to run at 10 - 15 mph faster to run just right

Leave the scooter as it is, and make new friends.

Hi Steve,

I've considered trying 15 x 48 (81 link chain) with same GT gearbox in mine, which gives 4.65 fourth gear ratio.

You might loose some top speed - in perfect conditions - but should be easier at low speeds, and on the pipe - 5.5k rpm - at 60.

In any event, let us know what you decide to do?

Cheers :-D

Hi Steve, recommended sm ratios on TV200 box (which is the recommended box as you know. li150 would be second best) are 15/46 for normal use which gives you 4.44 or 16/47 which is for touring and is longer at 4.27 so you chose right.
Tell your friends to stop riding like girls or just ride ahead and let them catch up once in a while :D
