the power you have is pretty much the same as a ts1 or rb225 but much nicer to ride,sounds a nice set up if you can sort it

Coming back to this one...
I'm thinking about trying my Agusto 7000 on my standard Avanti TT3, which is currently fitted with a MKI Ron Moss clubman and 30mm carb. According to my Veglia electronic tacho I can touch 9K through the gears, which is actually more than the JL3 was revving to over my ride to Avignon and back. That said, my rev counter was also suggesting that I really hit a powerband at around 6.5K and would hold on through about 8K, which was higher than I'd expected.
The reason for questioning where I should be trying my Agusto 7K is because, reading back through this thread, it is suggested that the advance comes on when the pipe hits the power, however, the dyno graph for an Avanti + RM clubman suggests a fairly stable (flat'ish) power delivery, rather than a typical expansion 'hump' with obvious peak. As such, where on Earth would I be best trying this? Perhaps this is not the ideal motor to try it on, nor the ideal Agusto unit to be using, however, the fact that it will rev on so far makes me think that it might be suitable (?).
Any advice greatly appreciated

3rd! ... but that's taking it to the rev limit through the gears.
I'm pretty sure that I'd need to drop a tooth to pull 9K in 4th... unless I can find enough additional grunt to get me there, let's say, if I could set an advance/retard ignition to help me over the cusp and back into the power higher up
Or perhaps a decent 5-speed gearbox with ratios that didn't let me drop out of the power?

the gutted clubman has a very short tuned length so not surprised it revs on well ,along with the excellent blowdown area of the avanti
chuck the augusto on and see what setting it likes ,i normally start near to full advance and richen the pilot/needle up
watch for the plug going from your current brown/tan about right to grey/brown or grey when over advanced or overheating

Funny really. This motor gets me to Paris, Avignon and home again, so the first thing I do is change the pipe and look to change the ignition too! What am i like?!!
Thanks for the advice. I'll fit it and play but didn't want to immediately hole a piston and wonder why the heck I didn't just leave it alone.

Hmmmm, turns out that I've only got an Agusto 8000 unit, which may not back off quickly enough. Time will tell.

I use a 7000 agusto Adam, if u use a Bgm stator u will have to elongate the slots to get the correct timing

Thanks for the input. I'm actually running an 80s Ducati DC stator (as per 80s AF kit) so will need to strobe and see what sort of range I have.
Any idea what sort of settings you are using, e.g. from X to Y @ Z revs?

I think it's at about 24 - 25 degrees, I've fiddled about with it that much I just move it and ride it and see if it goes ok and doesn't get too hot!!! Works for me, I keep meaning to give static 17 degrees a go just to see what the difference is. I originally put it on cos mikuni a are always rich low down. Great fun wen they pack up as well! Nearly took my leg off last year
