Extra Black wire on Indian stator???

now, last time I fitted an electronic kit was probably 5 years ago and today been helping a mate rebuild complete engine, new exhaust, carb and 12v indian electronic kit.

All is good and it's running but the stator has 5 wires not 4, the extra being a black and I've not come across this before.

So, anyone know the story behind this rogue wire at all, Im assuming its safe to insulate / blank off?

If the scoots running, have you tested to see if there is any voltage out on the black?

Is it just an extra earth like on Vespas ?

think it must be as when tested there's no power but weve just isolated it in the end
