Hi all.
Any thoughts on this anyone. Should I keep the stock crank as was thinking of gettimg a race crank (on my Rally 200..currently running Sito+ but wamting to change to Gianelli/Malossi pipe). Just want to keep reliability really.
I also read the following though:
"A Pinasco on an otherwise unported engine will give you more horsepower than a Malossi on an unported engine.
Make sure you get it jetted correctly, because the head that comes with it is not really designed well and lets heat build up too fast. I'd say it works ok if you have the stock crank and a stock pipe or a sito+, but any thing more, you'll have trouble getting rid of the pinging at higher revs.."
So, would I also need the uprated head if I went for the race crank and new exhaust? Or..should I just keep with stock crank & Sito+ and leave alone exceot for jetting (although I want rid of the Sito+ if I'm honest?)
Any thoughts on set up appreciated and sorry if it's a confused question.
Cheers!
Pinasco 213 kit - thoughts please
It's a good kit but it was always designed with half an eye on using a 'stroker crank so without getting a bit technical it'll never be ideal.
The bit about them being more powerful than a Malossi is nonsense but they are far more user friendly / less aggressive so a far better option for many.
There's 2 'heads that come from Pinasco, forget the volumns but Oz will know and it seems that what you get depends on if it were Guiseppe or Alberto doing the packaging on that particular day. Exhaust wise why not Pinasco's own? It was designed for the kit and looks and sounds far better than a Simo. Not sure on the Malossi but it looks cheap and nasty, I expect it's a Gianelli or something rebranded.

My 'little black book' is with the rest of my stuff in storage until I get into new house, but from memory heads were 30 and 34cc
My Twin Carb with 60mm crank, std casings, baffel-less Pitone is 14.5hp, 'bolt on' Malossi with PM pipe was 15.
Have heard good things about Pinasco 60mm cranks.

Thaks for replies.
I want to keep the standard length in case I ever put the engine back to standard. Had a Malossi on my old PX but don't want anything so revvy and top endy on the Rally. Want more low down power.
Do you think a standard crank would be okay with the 213 kit then or whilst the engone is apart stick a race crank in anyway? That way I have the option to just do the crank (or leave alone) now and put the kit on later in year.
Point taken re the Pinasco pipe but can't see they come in black as don't want stainless/chrome.
Cheers

looking at the two side by side the hb and the pinasco look very similar apart from the spit top port. how do they compare on the road?OzOAP wrote:Pinasco is a good quality kit but also look into the HB/Diablo 'stage 4' standard barrel conversion.
Got one on my Rally and can highly recommend it.
Just to throw another option into the pot Polini are doing the 208 with a decent piston again these days and there is, or should be shortly at least, an alloy / nicasil version available.
Not saying there's anything wrong with what's been spoken about but that's where my money would go.
