rebuilt engine back in frame and wired up - no spark so :-

1. Ran the triple earth - still no spark

it has new plug, cap and lead

2. Swopped CDI - still no spark - removed the green ignition no spark

3. Took flywheel (AF Lightened) and stator (Ducati - rebuilt by AF with a new LT coil and pick up) off
Put my spare genuine SIL stator and flywheel (just eyed up for timing as i only wanted to see if it would work) and bingo sparking like a good en !

4. Tested Ducati stator and all readings good well within the values quoted

before i stripped the bike it was running and starting okay - even though the wiring was in a right state and the pick up was cracked/damaged

Rebuilt engine using same casing, same crank (replaced SIL big end for NRB), same mag housing, new bearings and a new top end.

anyone experienced this with af flywheel and ducati stator ?

I wonder if there is a misalignment of the pick up and pick up points on the flywheel on the one that doesn't work since the rebuild and maybe the Indian one has wider tolerances.
Maybe the crank isn't completely seated into the drive bearing or maybe it's a new crank? Try to have a measure up from contact point on flywheel to a surface on the casing and reference that against the other one.

you can take the pick up off, dremmel 1 or 2 laminates off the stator, and re-attach the pick up. makes it sit further back to line up with the trigger magnets.

Crank is definately home - i`m thinking on those lines that there is a mis alignment

need to get back in garage and have play about

i previously bought a af lightened flywheel to replace the SIL one - that wouldnt spark so reverted back to SIL (Lightened) no problems

cheers
