Hello can anyone offer advice for my friends series 1 . He has a brake pedal with the switch fitted to it and operates when a connecting chain pulls the pin out and that works the switch . Problem is brake light wasn't working so he took the switch apart and found the little round disc at the end of the pin had come off so when the pin was pulled it didn't connect the two pins . After metal welding the disc back on he got the brake light to work by pulling the pin but as soon as he connected the switch back to the peddle and applied the brake it has blown the bulbs . Rear light has a good earth . Anyone with any advice or cause would be great as this has us scratching our heads
Kind regards James
Sorry if its a bit long winded but hope someone can make some sense of the problem
Brake light
Hello
Doesn't sound like it's a problem with the switch, but one of 'too much power' getting through to the bulb.
Is it just the brake light bulb that blows? If so try a higher watt bulb.
Maybe the regulator isn't working properly if it's taking out lots of bulbs. Is your mate running a 6 or 12v set-up?
Cheers

Hello Starwave ,
As far as I know it has blown the rear lights this is the type with 3 festoon bulbs . The bulbs blowing part is only from a conversation last night with him . I will try and find out more info of him so people can try and come up with a solution or fix . Is there any way of testing the output of the regulator he is running 12v setup
Thanks for taking the time to reply
