Having some panels sprayed RAL9010 and want to get some other bits powder coated in same colour. Has anyone colour matched powder coat and paint before for their bike and how does it look when put side by side?

Cheers Jazzy. Would you say the colours and finish were pretty close with the two then? That's why I'm sticking to RAL or BS colours as hope get the best match that way.

Congratulations on the SoulIISoul anniversary too...just seen you on breakfast TV lol!

I had my frame & internals powder coated in Ral 1015 ivory at LSN in Castleford it matched the paint finish perfectly

If they are both to the same RAL, the theory says they should be identical in colour.

However ... The sheen levels may not be the same, and that can make quite a difference when you put them side by side.

I'll be using either LSN or Midas Touch in Cass' too. They've both got some fancy finishes like candies and eerie-dess for custom jobs. Not doubting standard of finish with either of them.

Yeah the theory is it should match if it's the same code, but I'm a decorator and different brands versions of BS codes can vary a fair bit.

If you can post those pics up Jazzy that's be good. I know 10B15 as a colour quite well, it's one that I use with work a lot. Comes under Ivory, Soft White, Gardenia depending who's selling it. Be good to compare how the paintwork sits against powder.

Found out that satin finish powder coat is just un-lacquered, so I guess they can increase the sheen with more clear coat if I took panels in to give them a match.

Satin finish, or high gloss powder coats all come straight out of the box, and have nothing to do with clear coats.

Clear is normally an option, and not an essential part of the process.
