After nearly 6000 miles on my engine i've finally got round to stripping the top end...........and all looks pretty good.
Bore really not worn at all. No signs of heat even around the exhaust port.
Slight carbon build up on piston crown and in cylinder head but nothing really to speak of after nearly 6000 miles.
BUT... the lower piston ring was completely stuck in groove !
Other than that the piston is like new after a clean up.
Another thing that I thought was odd was that the gudgeon pin showed signs of wear. Its obviously been spinning because there are shiny rings round it, two of which are actually blueing, so must have got really hot..........These are either side of where the small end runs...........I didn't think that the gudgeon pin is supposed to spin....
I only stripped it down for peace of mind as i've always been paranoid that these kits run hot, and it was a lovely evening Wednesday and not cold in the garage!!
New rings, pin, small end and circlips on order!
Anyone else done similar / higher mileage with no probs?

Race Tour piston if anyones wondering!!

I did the same with my TS1 225....roughly about 6-7k ....exactly the same as yours. Must of had a heat seize at some stage which I didnt know about and the top ring was stuck in...been riding that 2 up and went to IOW and back...carbon on crown and in head...cleaned up, out new ring in and away we went.....2 years later, done a strip down and had it replated and new piston etc.
