Witty title to grab your attention and maybe shed some light on why the lower bearings on my forks (PX frame and forks) keep dropping the balls out of the bearing cage/race, i have fitted loads of Vespa forks and until now have not had a problem. But this has happened twice now and its becoming a pain in the proverbial.
Bearings will be fine for a few weeks and then slowly start to make a grinding noise and there will be minor resistance in the handlebars. After which i will have the actual ballsbearings fall out usually 1 at a time until the bearing collapses and the forks start to grind. I am using plenty of grease packed into the bearing cage and i am tightening the forks up in the usual way (until the turning becomes stiff and then loosen off)
Anyone else had this issue ?? am i doing something wrong or are these just crap bearings ??
my balls keep falling out

Hopefully you are putting the cage on the forks the right way? ie cage down on the lower track .If so check the lower frame track is in the frame rebate correctly and not twisted or loose. If this is ok then I would check the frame and forks are not bent.
Just spent the afternoon stripping the forks out and have discovered that i fitted the bearing upside down -wack 63 wrote:Hopefully you are putting the cage on the forks the right way? ie cage down on the lower track .If so check the lower frame track is in the frame rebate correctly and not twisted or loose. Dont know how it happened but all resolved now - getting too old / blind / stupid for this scooter lark.
Thanks for the feedback guys
