Hello There

Does anybody have any advice on fitting the rubber cable gators ie do they need to be cutdown ?. The set i have i got from MBD and look well made but even when they are squashed together over the cable they appear to long. Thought they might be a good idea ie stop water etc or i shall i just not bother !.

Thanks.

I've never bothered. I'd even forgotten that they existed.

I just put some grease on the exposed section of inner cable

Its a few years back now, but I fitted some to look original.

In truth rubber was much harder than original, and would not compress enough.

Could not select 4th gear as a result, spent a good few hours working out why.

Also last year, a friend bought a new restored Scoot, exactly same syptom, could not select 4th.
Everyone adding comments about what it could be.
I cut 1/2 inch off the gaiters and hey presto could get 4th !!!!

Have also seen it where it stops selecting 1st, same reason.
