Fitting engine into frame.

Any tips, suggestions or easiest ways to fit the engine into the frame? Cheers.

take wheel off(back of your frame sat on a large paint tin forgot to say that) put engine under frame lift the back of the engine up so you can slot a thin screwdriver betweeh the schocker mount and the schocker this gives you more play then putting the bolt in, have the inside of the frame clean but greased ready, now lift the front of the engine up when you can see the hole start to line up push a screwdriver in, go around the other side and do the same, then chock under the bottom take one screwdriver out and push the bolt in easy one man job this way.

Thanks ducksta. Forgot to mention it's a PX engine and a Sportique frame, do you know if the gap in the frame where the engine mounts, is the same width as a PX. I've tried the way you said and I can see how it's done but I get the screwdriver in the rear shock and one in the engine side of the mount but just can't get the other side to slot up into the frame. It's very close but just a tad too tight Any suggestions?

it will be tight as your at a slight angle you only need to see a tiny gap then screw driver in and level it

If you have not already removed the barrel, remove the barrel and leave the top right cylinder stud in place. Mark on the piston where the location pins are for the rings. When you have it in the area of the engine and frame holes hold it place with a car jack or similar, this takes the weight of your hands and wiggle it into place. If it is still very tight grind a little of the engine casings. You may also need to grind some of the casing in the middle of where the engine bolt travels along, as this can hit the underside of the frame. Not 100% sure if you need to do this when fitting a PX engine into a Sportique, but you do need to do this on Wideframe Vespas.
You can now use the single stud to fit and pivot the barrel into place. Then refit the other 3 studs. I hope this makes sense and helps.

Managed to squeeze the engine in tonight but now have problems with the carb hitting the frame. The filter just touches the frame but there is no way the cover will fit. See pics. Any suggestions?
