Hi, my Avantti currently had a standard long fin Indian flywheel fitted. I note that lightweight flywheels are available as lightened indian ones (around 2 kilos) or by AF Rayspeed which are lighter still. Any recomendations?

If you're flywheel works well, why not just get it lightened and/or the fins shortened? Maybe wait for the bgm one which should be out soon, I believe
Both my scoots have Indian lightened flywheels. One is Elemec. I can't remember where I got the other but I don't think it is SIL. Other than the ^ being in the wrong place on the Elemec one, both have worked well
I had a bad experience with the AF light one, even the newer one with the boss spacer. IMO avoid, but I know others will disagree.

Cheers Paul, I guess I could get the existing one lightened but I was thinking of doing it before the c2c....I might give CS engineering a call, the advantage being I wouldn't need to re-strobe it

I have to take issue with that statement. It really does not matter where the arrow on the flywheel is; it's an arbitrary mark. You use it to mark tdc and the firing point on the mag flange.storkfoot wrote: Other than the ^ being in the wrong place on the Elemec one
What is often wrong on pattern flywheels is either the positioning of the the keyway or the marking of the two \\ marks which are supposed to align with the marks on the pickup at the firing point. These latter marks should only be used as a reference check for genuine Ducati flywheels as any other ones cannot be relied on.

That's fine and dandy if you appreciate the way an electronic ignition works. But, if a novice bought my TS1 and decided to strobe the timing against the proper arrow on the flywheel, they might be a touch confused that it fires around 50 degrees BTDCrosscla wrote:

And that's a good reason not to trust any marks on the mag flange unless you checked them yourself first
