Hi There

Can somebody help ?

I have recently bought a remade lucas pathfinder fog lamp to fit to the front of my series 3 and i have a bit of a problem with the length of the threaded part versus the length of the rubber mount it doesnt have hardly any thread to attach the nut and it certainly wont fit with a large washer on the outside.I was wondering do the rubber mounts vary in length abd suitability has anybody else encountered this . Im scratching my head at the moment because i want to fit this short of cutting the rubber down somehow to expose more threaded area i dont know what to do.

Thanks

Have you tried dunking the rubber in boiling water first to soften it up before fitting?

The rubber mounts vary, some have cross slots where the lamp fits and some don't which means that the lamp sits too far forward. Could you carve some of the rubber away so that the lamp sits further in and gives some more thread?
