Mixing AC and DC

You can use a common earth for AC and DC as long as you don´t use a "full wave" rectifier.Most bikes use a "half wave" rectifier.This means that the DC electric flow has ciclic "cuts".

If in an AC circuit (witout battery) you want to use some accesori that needs DC and use a full cicle rectifier DON´T earth it to the AC earth!!!.In this case you must isolate both wires + and - from the bike body.
