I Wanted to add a bit of extra HP to my standard PX 150 engine that i presently have in my full panelled Vespa Sprint. I was running a standard 200cc PX lump but that s**t itself last month and cracked the casing in the process, so have decided to go down the kitted 150 route as 200cc casings are quite hard to come by here in Indonesia. I have had a look at the Polini 177 kit from SIP and it seems to be what i am after, i will run it with a 24mm P2 carb and a polini exhaust pipe from SSC in Vietnam. i am looking for a better performance from a plug and play set up and dont really want to go too mad as this is my daily driver.

Any comments on this set up before i place an order with SIP ??

Does the casings not need to be matched to the Polini. I know the DR barrel is a straight forward replacement.

i was under the impression from the SIP site that to get the maximum results yes but it can also be a straight swap also, though i may have misunderstood as they actually state that its a "plug and play" replacement.

You are right....you can fit n ride, although matching it to the casings gets max benefit.

How hard is that to do myself ?? i am guessing in that with a dremel and a bit of patience its doable ?? After all i only need to make the casing ports the same size as the barrel ports dont i ?? I dont mind doing something like that but as i said in my OP i dont want to go too mad on this engine.

Yes you can do it yourself with a dremel and the correct bit. Fit the gasket on to the casings and draw around the gasket, grind out the appropriate shape. There are videos on YouTube that show exactly how to do it. Sorry I don't have the link.
