Clutch issue Lammy gp

Can anyone shed some light whilst my clutch cable would need adjusting so soon , just about to go out for little ride and whilst in gear stationary in traffic it's trying to edge forward and stalls I've only just adjusted the cable not so long ago . It's got a new clutch fitted in it cheers Simon

Assuming you soaked the clutch corks for a good 24 hours prior to fitting, your clutch actuating arm is at 90 degrees to the chaincase when at rest, it may just be new parts bedding in. Was the clutch cable inner new? Again maybe a bit of stretch in the cable. Did you check that the plates had the required clearance when the new clutch went in?

I had the exact same thing on mine a couple of weeks ago, clutch was dragging so I tightened the adjuster. All good for a few miles then started dragging again, descided to leave it until I got home but the cable snapped at the nipple about 200 yards from the house. If it isn't a new cable I would renew the inner if I was you.

So on peeps advice I don't need to go for a updated clutch as a few others have said this may be my issue ? Cheers for help Simon

This sort of issue is typical of a clutch being adjusted too tight, as well as too loose, which is made worse by adjusting it tighter. It is also typical of the combination of plates (even a problem with standard 4-plate assemblies but all too common with 5-plate assemblies) being too thick to allow full separation, which no ammount of adjustment will cure.

Unfortunately, yours is a typical clutch problem and it may be as simple as an adjustment issue but could aslo be a strip and rebuild issue. I would agree that you want to look at the easy things first... that being to ensure that your clutch cable adjustment is not too tight, nor too loose.

I should add that the cable will either snap at the lower 'trunnion' end or near the nipple at the lever end. Have a good look for any broken strands at both ends. It was the snapping one by one over a period of days of each of the strands that was causing my cable to stretch.
