Halogen Headlamp

There was a thread on here about Halogen headlamp units for Lambrettas. It seems to have got lost during the upgrade of the forum. I ordered one on the 12/03/12 for my Jet 200 from www.jockeys-boxenstop.de. It arrived this morning. On first inspection im very pleased with the build and quality. I will be fitting it tomorrow so lets hope it fits with no problems. Hoping it will be a great improvement on what ive got fitted at the moment.

Really interested to see how you get on with this, some pics of how it fits in the headset would be great! Can't help wondering what happens to the connector assembly that normally goes on the back of the reflecter

Today the halogen headlamp was fitted. I must say it fitted in the headset lovely and snug and there were no issues. Very pleased with the build quality and everything fitted lovely. The bracket supplied makes it fit far more securely than the original version. After sparking up the engine the lights were incredibly bright which must be a combination of the halogen bulb and the brand new reflector. I even went for a quick ride in the rain down a dark road to test it I would post photos but ive no idea how to do that. Just a word on ordering from www.jockeys-boxenstop.de. I found them very efficient and my parcel was tracked at every stage online with DHL via a link they sent me. All in all very pleased

What did you do for the junction box? I presume it must use a different lamp holder?

Didnt need the junction box. Big Si who fitted it for me soldered the wires from the wiring loom straight onto the wires coming from the housing where the halogen bulb fits in. The housing is just the same as headlight in a car. very streamlined and it does not look like spaghetti junction inside the headset.

I think what Coaster was refering to was all the other wires (not the lights) that use the normal headlamp connector as a junction box like this CEV one:

Yes that has been taken out and discarded. All the wires have been soldered together and shrink wrapped at the joints. The lad who did it for me is very good with electrics and made it all look really simple. If someone can explain how to put photos on here ill try and show it. A picture paints a thousand words and all that.

Soldering everything is all very well but it can be a pain in the parts if you're working on the scoot and want to take stuff apart.
