water logged Ram Air filter
Is it just me, or do other people suffer this, riding back from Modrapheniacs this weekend in rain, my Ram Air filter sticking out the side of the panel would get waterlogged and the motor would cut out , I must admit I have not oiled the filter, would oiling it prevent this from happening ? or are there any other suggestions ? its happened a couple of times since I fitted it, don`t really want to go back to an open mouth carb.

Hi, sorry, don't have an answer for you, but I'm also using a RamAir (sticking out of panel) for the first time on my Super Monza and, even though I haven't yet been out in the pouring rain, would also like to know if there is anything that can be done to help with this "waterlogging" problem??

I've run Ram Airs through the panel for 5 or 6 years now. The only time I had this problem was with a non-Ram Air filter ie. one of those cheap foam Vietnamese ones. I remember stopping at the side of the road to literally wring it out in my hands.
The Ram Airs, in my experience, being double walled, are OK and I leave mine outside in the rain all day at work too. I have also been out on the motorway in some biblical downpours and been OK.
I've never oiled the filter either. But, I dare say that in extremes of weather it could happen.

As far as I can see mine is a ramair, unless its a fake. mind you, it was p1551ing down.

Proper Ram Airs are painted "Ram Air" across the filter although you can barely see it on my TS1 now the filter is over 2 years old. there is afterall a very good reason why motorcycles of every concoction (especially crossers ) have their filters encased inside big water proof boxes instead of open to the elements

As storkfoot, I have ran ram air on my ts1 for last few years , i did oil my one , and anyone who was in Spain for the euro rally will testify it was bloody wet !! No problems whatsoever rain /wet related , good filters .
