I think i may have got this slightly wrong. I was under the impression that by shortening the arm you would make the clutch action lighter. Thinking about it now it makes sense that it would make it stiffer due to the arm being shorter. I haven't got a problem with drag it's that the action is a bit stiff even with a Yam lever fitted. So by adding 1cm to the arm as Sean suggests that will that make the action lighter?[/quote]
yes ,the extra 1cm on the engine clutch arm makes it lighter

mr TERROR,since building my latest engine ive had the clutch in and out i dont know how many times trying different spring combos due the stiff yam lever action,ive also tried one of those "easy clutch" gizmos as a few friends have been using them,whilst trying to adjust this gizmo i thought to myself,im struggling now imagine on the side of the road what a ballache it would be....so i fecked it off,my last resort was to fit a NEW NYLON LINED CABLE,..i never really believed they made such a difference but i can assure you they do,from needing virtually 2 hands to pull the lever in its gone from that to a lovley silky action...so if you havnt invested in a new nylon lined cable,do so...it cured my woes

I'm pretty sure that i'm using a nylon lined cable mate. The clutch was ok until i fitted an AF cassette jobbie at the weekend. It's not mega stiff but stiffer than i'd like. Where did you get your cable from? I may as well try that 1st before i start chopping things up...Cheers Pete

I also assumed I had a nylon lined cable,I used an MB one for the new one.funnily I'm just fitting a cassette clutch to my other bike as we speak so I,l report back to how heavy it is to pull in.what do you think of your clutch?

It's a really good bit of kit mate, very happy with it. One of the few things I've bought for my Lammy that actually fits, works and does what it's supposed too. It is a bit heavy on the lever, but I've just purchased a nylon cable, so hopefully that will help. Cheers Pete..

Engine back in,not ridden it yet but the clutch feels nice to pull in,I've not got strong hands so hopefully your issue is hopefully the cable.let us know how you get on
