t5 malossi 172 advice
just bolt kit on, no need matching casings as its a near perfect fit, simmonini exhaust works really good and cheap, just up the main jet and keep your eye on the plug (and ignore the death rattle)
live life your a long time dead

Have to agree with soulboy..I had a vespa strangely (please don't tell anyone) in the mid 90's and fitted a pm pipe 172 kit etc it worked great, think I had to work the motor to get it to pull but why build a powerful engine to cruise , had a cosa clutch , standard carb.soulboy wrote:what does my headin is everyone says the pm is s**t on a t5 172 well fellas ive got one on mine and it goes like fuk and pulls all through the gears altough i have had some work on my crank

cheers for all the advice, this is what im planning to do
new bearings, oil seals, malossi kit, machined head to match, taffspeed pipe(if i can get 1) or revolver, standard carb (up jetted), bgm fuel tap, new clutch (mine is playing up).
Going to see what this set up is like with a view to going for reed valve, casings done, new crank and bigger carb in the future maybe.
just got a couple of questions though-
Will my standard crank be ok?
What clutch set up should i go with?
What specialised tools do i need for the job? (first time doing a vespa)
Is there anything else i should consider doing?
I wont be touring on the scoot, just want a quick vespa.
Any advice would be appreciated.
cheers

Keep crank standard if you are thinking of reedvalve later as you will need to cut it down if you not going to be touring keep 20 tooth clutch not sure on the tools as Diablo is only up the road from me and he likes sorting my scoot out as it keeps him out of trouble

keep your crank standard along with your clutch you can uprate your springs but why have a heavy clutch keep carb standard just up your main jet they do supply you with one with the kit.hope it brings a smile to your face m8

RIP Sausage! Absolutely agree with Mr. Gadget. Steve was quite a character and made watching the DVD's a lot of fun, so much so that my wee ones would ask to watch.gadgetman wrote:The best thing you can do is buy the Vespa engine rebuild DVD for about £25. Believe me it will be the best £25 you will ever spend
