Had to settle for an exchange of 'electronic' V day cards, she's not back until next Wednseday. My real problem is I need to at least LOOK as if I've been doing some diy on the house

coaster wrote:Right, barrel's off again, I messed about with the vernier and eventually got figures in the range that Darreel quoted above. Very difficult to be completely consistent though as from the top ot bottom of the barrel you are not looking squarely at the roof of the port. Anyway, I just fed the figutres into Eden's calculator and it gave 176.5 exhaust and 124.7 transfers. Then I spotted the bit about deducting the squish so with 1mm removed from both measurements it comes out at 129 and 180 (I had already entered the piston to crown hight as zero.....what do you think?

Spent the rest of the day fettling the new gear selector to get it to work, had to grind loads off to stop it fouling on the case :?

easier to put 0 in the calculator and deduct off your measurement

If u got 33.2 ex and deduct 1.2 sq(piston 1.2 below tdc) = 32 183.5
45.9 tr and deduct 1.2 sq = 44.7 128.72
so 27.39 blowdown
if u remove a base and add a head gasket (?0.7mm swap) youll have basically how a ts1 is set up,
with a 0.7 head gasket piston sat 0.5 below tdc giving 1.2 sq

thats 33.2 - piston 0.5 below = 32.7 = 180.76
45.9 - piston 0.5 below = 45.4 = 125.21
so 27.77 blowdown

so the lowered cylinder has a higher blowdown effectively tuning it but without the side effect of raising the ex port and bringing it onto pipe higher up the rev range
have ur cake and eat it :)

Check your contents insurance is current, slop some dulux on your worst carpet/floor covering, break a step on your ladder, wrap right hand in gauze and safety pin (importantly if you are left handed then reverse), sit back and enjoy all the pleasures of a hero's return gifts etc. without the ball-ache?
