Hi i have a lambretta chainside casing which was chromed years ago the chrome is blistered and coming off so how do i get the rest of???
I know sandblastin is no use so can it be dipped or what is the secret????

take it to a chrome platers who will reverse the process and this removes the chrome. you could get it sandblasted then painted or polished which i have done many times. I often have old chrome racks sandblasted and powder coated with no problems.

if you do take it to the sand blasters just ask them if they can do it first because sometimes didfferent sandblasters have a different "is the word pitch?" grain size which can damage the chaincase as its soft but if they know what they are doing they should be able to say staright away whether they can do it or not

If it is already blistered, why don't you try a wire wheel on a grinder. Not sure what the part looks like, but it may be best fixed to the scooter or a piece if wood, as the grinder is very powerful.

Its now at the blasters and as its already flakin the guy said he,ll give it ago........told him to be careful it was worth a couple hundred quid ,,,,a wee lie so he doesnt go at it like a bull
