Why does this keep happening??? ( JL Exhaust)

Im running a JL RH on a Malossi 210 and its been fitted about 10 months and has done about 8000 miles.

In the last three months i have had to insert new rivits into the end can .On several occsions 2 have come out or snapped. this is to stop the small end piece with the smaller hole falling completley out of the exhaust .

Ive used quality rivits but they appear to be snapping which an un-eductaed guess is caused by vibration??

I have no idea why this is happening and its is now every other week.

This is the same end can that loses thick gungy black oil from teh rivit holes also which also remains unknown why

Ive used JL pipes for a while on other scooters without problems .

I've got the same problem with my revolver right hander. I don't know how many times I've drilled the loose rivets out and redone them. I'm going to try doing a few wee spot welds on the join next time I do the rivets.

it sounds like your rivets might be a tad to small for the drilled hole or they are not compressed enough try slightly longer rivets thats why the oil is coming through the rivet hope this helps m8

Have you been using steel rivets? Vibration is a cruel thing.
"Weatherproof" ones which are closed at the bottom are available, but don't know where in small qtys.
A dob of sealer/silicone may do the trick, cheaper.
You'll need a proper setting tool for 3/16" steel ones. You might just manage 1/8" ones with the pliers type.
